Product Overview

The double-end straight T5 UVC tube is the most widely installed germicidal lamp format in the world — the direct descendant of the fluorescent tube, with a G5 bi-pin base at each end and a quartz arc tube in between. It is the lamp inside HVAC upper-air units, coil-irradiation kits, conveyor surface sanitizers, laboratory biosafety cabinets, and exposed-tube water sterilizers on every continent. The Legia Smart GPH-T5 series covers the complete range: twelve models from 4W (135mm) to 79W (1630mm), delivering up to 250 μW/cm² of 254nm intensity at one meter with a 10,000-hour rated life.

Because these tubes are almost always purchased as replacements for installed equipment, interchangeability is engineered in, not asserted. Lamp dimensions, G5 bi-pin bases, operating currents, and UV output follow the established industry standard, so a Legia Smart tube drops into existing fixtures and ballasts without modification — including the ubiquitous TUV-type installations found in air handlers and sterilization fixtures worldwide.

For equipment that cycles frequently or must strike reliably at low temperature, the companion instant-starting series (G-T5) provides nine models from 17W to 79W built on instant-start cathode technology: the lamp ignites immediately on power-up without a preheat phase, tolerating the frequent on/off cycling that destroys preheat cathodes. Instant-start models are identified by their single-pin or colored-cap end terminals and run on standard 425mA instant-start ballasts.

Built for the Replacement Market

Every tube in the series starts as high-purity fused quartz, refined to reduce the impurity content that absorbs 254nm photons, then coated internally to suppress solarization — the gradual UV-darkening that silently erodes dose in uncoated economy tubes. The cathode is a proprietary filament design with an emitter coating formulated for long life at the standard 425mA operating point (170mA on the 4W miniature model). High initial intensity and a shallow decay curve mean the tube that goes in at service still delivers specification dose when the next annual service comes around.

Both ozone-free and 185nm ozone-generating quartz versions are available across the range: ozone-free for germicidal air and surface duty, ozone-generating where combined UV + ozone oxidation is specified for odor control, grease breakdown in kitchen exhaust, or TOC reduction.
